Privacy Policy

Flight Tracer is designed to keep most flight information on your device. Some features, particularly Shared Sky, use Apple CloudKit to store information that you choose to share.

Information stored on your device

Your personal flight log is primarily stored locally on your device. Flight Tracer may use local app storage to remember app preferences and moderation choices.

Location and motion

When you choose to use Live Flight Log, Flight Tracer may request access to your location and device motion data to support flight recording and flight-phase features. These permissions are used while the feature is active. Flight Tracer does not publish your precise location or raw motion data to Shared Sky.

Camera and boarding pass scanning

If you use boarding pass scanning, Flight Tracer may request camera access so that supported information can be recognized on your device. Camera access is only used when you choose to scan a boarding pass.

Shared Sky and CloudKit

Shared Sky is optional. When you explicitly publish a journey, selected journey information is stored in Apple's CloudKit public database so that it can be displayed to other Flight Tracer users. Published information may include route information, flight number, aircraft information, departure date, a caption you provide, and an app-generated identifier associated with the publisher.

Do not include sensitive personal information in a Shared Sky caption. Shared Sky includes tools for reporting content, hiding journeys and blocking publishers.

Tracking and advertising

Flight Tracer does not use third-party advertising and does not use your Shared Sky content for cross-app or cross-website tracking.

Third-party services

Flight Tracer uses Apple platform services, including CloudKit, MapKit and related system frameworks, where needed to provide app functionality. Apple's handling of information is subject to Apple's own privacy policies and service terms.

Removing shared content

Where the app provides a withdrawal option, you can request removal of a journey you previously published to Shared Sky. Local flight records can be managed from within Flight Tracer.

Children

Flight Tracer is not designed to intentionally collect sensitive personal information from children. Users should avoid publishing personal or sensitive information in Shared Sky.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as Flight Tracer changes. The current version will be published on this page with an updated date.
